The trend was definitely set by Jean Paul Gaultier with his iconic Sailor Stripes, and Sonia Rykiel’s famous fancy & wildly colored stripes. Wallpaper, upholstery, apparel and shoes, every stripe has had its day. Thick or thin, each striped pattern conveys a different attitude. Bold cabana stripes are a quintessential summer staple, while pinstripes convey a serious, more sophisticated mood.
